Question 2 (a) A 64-level line code is used to transmit a digital signal at a rate of 36 Gbps over a channel which is 4 GHz. Compute the following parameters: (i) 6-dB bandwidth. (4 marks) (ii) The range for the roll off factor that can support the above bit rate. (8 marks) (111) If the roll off factor is 0.5, estimate the minimum channel bandwidth required. (3 marks) (b) The signal s(t) = 11 () + 2/(t – 3) is corrupted by an additive white-noise whose auto correlation function is given by 58(T). This corrupted signal is given as input to a causal LTI filter H(f) with a gain of 5. It is noted that the signal-to- noise power ratio at the output of the filter H(f) is maximised. Solve for impulse response of the causal LTI filter h(t). Sketch the impulse response h(t). (10 marks)
